Our school library is accessible to all students and staff, with welcoming spaces led by a certified school librarian who provides relevant instruction, leadership, and resources to develop students' skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Library Support

Our library values access, inquiry, literacy, collaboration, privacy, and equity. We support staff and students by connecting them with high-quality resources and instruction to enhance their learning.

We provide the following services to support learning: 

  • Instruction - Students learn how to responsibly use and evaluate resources, information, and technology tools. 
  • Access to resources - Students check out library books or access digital resources that meet their academic needs or help them explore their interests. 
  • Reader’s Advisory - Get suggestions for which book to read next, or which resources to use for a project.

South Lakes Library Vision

The South Lakes Elementary Library’s mission is to encourage, promote, and assist students and teachers in becoming effective and discriminating users of ideas and information, and to foster the use of a library for lifelong learning by enabling its students and faculty to:

  • Effectively use instructional materials
  • Enrich and support all areas of the curriculum
  • Provide the necessary materials and instruction to enable students to learn effective ways to find information to meet his/her unique need
  • Use the library as the information center of the school.
  • Provide informational, cultural, and recreational materials, allowing for the presentation of many different points of view.
